Commonly Asked Questions

What Silverado models are compatible with B2 Fabrication exhaust systems?

Our exhaust systems are designed for 2014–2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 trucks with 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8, and 6.2L V8 engines. They fit all cab and bed configurations. These systems do not fit Silverado HD 2500/3500 models — check out our Ram 1500 exhaust systems or Ford F-150 exhaust systems for other truck options.

What’s the difference between a Silverado muffler swap and a full cat-back exhaust?

A muffler swap replaces only the stock muffler for improved tone at a lower cost. A cat-back exhaust system replaces everything from the catalytic converter back, including tubing and tips, for maximum flow, power, and a complete sound transformation.

How loud is a Silverado muffler delete compared to a muffler swap or cat-back? Will it drone?

A muffler delete is the loudest option, giving a sharp, aggressive tone about 25% louder than a retrofit muffler. A muffler swap offers a deeper rumble without being overwhelming. Our cat-back systems are tuned to stay drone-free even at highway speeds.

What do B2 Silverado exhaust systems sound like?

The retrofit muffler will have an aggressive sound at start up, then quiets down to a nice low rumble tone. Not loud at all, and most report no drone in cab at speeds.

The muffler delete will be louder than the muffler by about 25%, it will have a higher tone, it can crackle a bit but that tends to go away if you eliminate the flapper valve.

Our Silverado cat-back exhaust systems deliver the ultimate in sound and performance. Both the 14-inch and 18-inch resonator options are completely drone-free. The 18-inch resonator produces an OEM+ sound - like a factory performance exhaust system. The 14-inch resonator delivers a more aggressive tone similar to typical Magnaflow or MBRP exhaust systems, but without any drone.

Do B2 Fabrication exhaust systems cause cabin drone at highway speeds?

No. Our Silverado exhaust systems are engineered to stay drone-free, even when cruising at highway RPMs. Some customers note a mild cabin increase with muffler deletes, but our cat-back systems and retrofit mufflers are tuned for zero drone, making them ideal for daily driving and long trips

Will upgrading to a B2 Silverado exhaust system improve performance and horsepower?

Yes. By improving exhaust flow, our systems can add 6–12 horsepower with a muffler swap and 15–20 horsepower with a cat-back. Customers often notice quicker throttle response, slightly better fuel efficiency, and a deeper, more aggressive tone. Explore our Silverado exhaust upgrades to find the right setup.

Is a B2 Silverado exhaust system emissions-legal? Will it pass inspection?

Yes. Our Silverado muffler deletes and cat-back systems are emissions-legal because they do not alter catalytic converters or emissions equipment. They are designed to pass inspections where exhaust modifications are allowed, making them a safe, worry-free upgrade. See our muffler delete kits for details.

Why should I choose B2 Fabrication over Borla, Magnaflow, or Flowmaster?

B2 focuses exclusively on truck exhaust systems. Our Silverado kits offer stainless steel construction, drone-free tuning, and multiple sound levels at a better value than bigger brands. Plus, every system is engineered and built in Michigan, ensuring American-made quality and a perfect fit.

What material is best for a Silverado exhaust — 304 vs 409 stainless steel?

304 stainless is highly resistant to corrosion, but more costly. 409 stainless, which we use, offers excellent durability at a more affordable price and is widely used in OEM truck exhausts. We use 304 Stainless on all of our Silverado exhaust tips. Both are stronger than aluminized steel, which rusts quickly in northern climates.

Can I install a B2 Silverado exhaust system myself? What tools are required?

Yes. Our systems are designed for DIY installation with basic hand tools and band clamps — no welding required. Most installs take 1–2 hours. For best results, use an impact wrench and apply high-temp silicone inside joints for a tight, leak-free seal.
